My Curriculum Vitae

Current Projects

I am currently investigating the effect of ilmenite on the strength of peridotites. There are indications that the evolution of the lunar mantle from a magma ocean produced ilmenite-cumulates that may have subsequently overturned and produced features observed on the surface of the moon. This overturn hypothosis has also been used to explain the brief existance of a lunar dynamo. Current theories rely on parameters either determined from elastic flexural models or from rheolgies determined from experiments on terrestrial mantle minerals and do not include the effects of minor phases such as the Ti-rich assemblages thought to be present in the lunar mantle.
